SWARM INTELLIGENCE WORKSHOP

Swarm

Short Course on Swarm Intelligence Book

The Swarm Intelligence Short Course is a two-day course that presents basic and intermediate level information on concepts, algorithms and implementations of swarm intelligence. By the end of the course, participants should be able to design swarm intelligence solutions to real-world problems.

The course comprises a total of 12 hours of class, including lectures and demonstrations and hands-on experiences with swarm intelligence software. The participants receive all course notes, and software (both source code and executable code) that implements a canonical version of particle swarm optimization. One copy of Computational Intelligence: Concepts to Implementations by Drs. Eberhart and Shi will be provided to the seminar sponsor at no cost.

Swarm Intelligence Short Course Objectives

At the end of the course, each participant should have basic knowledge regarding:

  • Computational intelligence concepts and paradigms
  • Evolutionary computation concepts and paradigms
  • Swarm intelligence concepts, paradigms, algorithms, and implementations
  • Advanced swarm intelligence topics including handling multiple objectives, multiple constraints, tracking optima in dynamic environments, and swarm system performance metrics
  • Latest development on swarm intelligence research frontiers
  • Applications of swarm intelligence in areas such as
    • Medical screening and diagnostics
    • Planning and logistics
    • Business Intelligence
    • Immune-informatics based data mining
    • Predictive maintenance
